Arden grew up in the city of Boston, rowing, biking, and running along the Charles River. She attended Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA, where she graduated in 2022. Now she is in the BFA Program in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University.
In high school, her primary medium was painting. Generally, her paintings are colorful, humorous, and playful. In the summertime, Arden was mentored by Nancy Shaul a professional potter based in westport island maine on all things ceramic. She pushed Arden to see the ways design can be functional and beautiful simultaneously. This is an idea she carries with her throughout all of her work.
Arden Conine has always been interested in the environment and human’s connection with it. More recently she has been considering the idea of how to get humans to connect with nature, because she believes it is extremely beneficial for everyone to have a relationship with their environment. This manifests into issues with climate change and the community as a whole.
Arden explores this goal through creating functional art to urge people to play in the outdoors, or experience their environment in a different way. Whether this be through ski art design, or a whimsical painting of five goats, she wants her art to give people a new perspective on their environment.
