Balance Boards (Acrylic/House Paint on Birch Plywood) Approx. 34'' x 16'' : April 18, 2020 (video created & boards complete)

The boards are part of a series created as a 'pandemic pastime,' giving my younger brothers and me a way to stay entertained and active during the spring 2020 quarantine. To use a balance board, a person balances on the board on top of a log. The board is meant to challenge and improve the user's balance and coordination skills. All of the boards feature a goofy animal interacting with the iconic surfboard stripes. The video attached below shows the process of making the boards and how they work. The video pokes fun at classic surf movies, depicting me carving the boards with a shell, while I really cut the boards with an electric jig saw and rounded the edges with a router.
