Crocheted this baby with bedsheet fabric that I ripped into strips then painted it with liquid rubber latex. This is my second (improved) installation of this piece! I wanted this piece to open discussion around where our food comes from. This sculpture literally puts you face to face with where your food comes from because often in our culture the source and the consumer are totally separate (for better or for worse…). As a vegan I am obviously wanting the viewer to consider their own choices when looking at this sort of grotesque representation of where dairy comes from (happy the another vegan in the class got this idea) The stretching of this piece is important — lots of stress. Also cracks in the udder with blue sky light leaking through reference water and the huge player the agriculture industry is in our worlds water system & supply (lots of lost water just because of leaks).

Lots of ideas worked in to this piece… I am extremely happy with how it turned out — one of my more satisfying final projects for this semester. Let the journey of fiber work continue! See @delicious.bass.co for constriction and deconstruction videos!
